Fellow Gators,

Welcome back to campus!

As the second week of the Fall semester comes to a close, most students have settled into their classes, reunited with friends and begun making strides toward a great semester.

One way I have made strides toward a great semester is by joining together with proven student leaders, from both sides of the aisle, to create Impact Party.

With slating already halfway through, we are well underway putting together a group of 50 qualified Senate candidates to run on our ticket, and we would love for you to be one of them.

After being an active senator in the two biggest political bodies on this campus, I learned so much about their commitment to students and their passion for our university.

What I also learned was, all too often, in the absence of compromise this same passion can lead to partisan disputes and controversies that chip away at the quality of student life on campus.

This can do irreparable damage to student relationships with each other, our administrators and our reputation as a Student Body.

One of the biggest lessons I took away from my previous experience is that it was time to stop working for a political party.

It was time to start working for the students.

Impact Party is a coalition of student leaders from both Swamp and Access who are determined to end the gridlock and partisanship in Student Government.

The students deserve better than party politics.
