The Pregame this and that

Nothing went right for the mighty Gators on

Oct. 14 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn handed UF its lone loss on the road to

the national championship, a heartbreaking 27-17 final.

The Gators are looking for payback tonight at

8, and, this time, the home field is on their side.

The team watched film from last year's

devastating loss, and players including middle linebacker Brandon

Spikes openly confessed their desire for revenge.

If No. 4 UF (4-0, 2-0 Southeastern Conference)

comes in motivated, it could get ugly.

Auburn has lost twice so far, including to

perennial SEC cellar dweller Mississippi State and stands unranked

at 2-2 overall and 0-1 in SEC play.

The Gators sputtered on their way to a

closer-than-expected 30-24 win over Ole Miss last week and should

come in looking to make up for that sloppy road performance.

Here are some things to look for going into

the game:

UF looking ahead: The most anticipated regular

season game of the year comes next week as Florida and LSU could be

playing a No. 2 vs. No. 3 matchup. LSU played like it was looking

ahead in a win over Tulane earlier Saturday. The Gators cannot copy

LSU's performance, or next week's game might not be so

prestigious.

Cox's comeback: Auburn quarterback Brandon Cox

rebounded from being benched earlier in the season to leading the

Tigers to a win over New Mexico State last week. Still, Cox has

thrown three touchdowns to six interceptions this season. Will Cox

continue gaining positive momentum, or will he fall back into his

early-season rut?

SEC at stake: A loss for the Tigers would put

them in a huge hole in the SEC West, two games behind LSU. Auburn

needs this win to stay within reach of LSU. With a win, UF would

become the first SEC team to reach 3-0 in conference play. LSU and

Kentucky, both at 2-0, are the only other undefeated teams in

conference play.
