Photos of a man suspected of robbing a UF student at gunpoint Wednesday night on campus near the
Broward tennis courts have been released by the University Police Department.
The robbery occurred around 11:30 p.m. According to UPD, the victim, a female student, had just exited an RTS bus at the
Rawlings Hall bus stop when a black male approached her and pointed a
semi-automatic handgun at her stomach, demanding she give him her
belongings.
The victim gave the suspect a black bag with a Miami Heat logo on it, an
iPod and a cell phone. The suspect then fled south toward Museum Road.
UPD officers and a canine unit from the Gainesville Police Department could
not locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as a thin black male, between 5'7'' and 5'9'', with
short dreadlocks. He wore long, dark-colored pants and a dark-colored
t-shirt.
Detectives are asking anyone who has any information about this crime or has
been approached by a subject matching the description of the suspect to
contact UPD's Criminal Investigations Division at 352-392-4705.
