LIVE BLOG from NCAA Gymnastics Championships: DAY 2 SUPER SIX

Rotation 6:

Stanford and Utah could not catch Georgia and prevent them from winning its fourth national championship in a row.

The big finish in the previous to rotations for UF was good enough to allow them to pass Alabama and LSU.

The top individual performer of the day was Utah's Ashley Postell, who finished with a 9.9 and three 9.95s.

Rotation 5:

If the Gators could have started the first two events the way they finished the last two, they would be the leaders heading into the final rotation.

The Gators tied the highest score on vault with a 49.4. They were led by Ashley Reed, who in her final routine performing with the team hit a 9.95.

The final total for the Gators is 196.7, .2 lower than their Day 1 score. It will be good for at least fifth, maybe fourth.

Katie Heenan might have sealed the win for the Bulldogs with a 9.95 on the beam, including a 10 from one judge.

They finished with a 197.45, and only Utah and Stanford have a shot, but it would take some of their best scores to catch UGA.

Rotation 4:

The Gators came back strong on floor posting a 49.4, but it just isn't going to be enough. Unless they can get five perfect scores on the vault, the Gators' title dreams will have to wait another year.

The Bulldogs head into their last event with the lead, but have Utah and Stanford nipping at their heels. They will need to stay on the beam and sitck their landings to hold on to the lead and win their fourth title in a row.

UF is still in last, but with a good score on vault and some help might be able to jump as high as fourth.

Rotation 3:

While UF was resting in the locker room, Stanford, Utah, LSU and Alabama were competing. All of them faired well in their events.

At the halfway mark, UF is in last place. Georgia leads the pack with Stanford right behind them.

The Gators will return to the mat and try and better their floor routine from yesterday. They had one of the better floor performances and will need to find some way to increase their score.

During warm-ups for the event, UF fans tried to start an Orange-and-Blue chant, but it was quickly swallowed by screams of UGA.

Rotation 2:

Once again the Gators struggled to produce to on the beam as they were able to score a 48.85. No one got higher than a 9.8, and only three gymnast were able to get that, Amanda Castillo, Corey Hartung and Ashley Reed.

The body language of the team looks nothing like the fun-loving team that most people are use to seeing. They will have time during their bye to try and find their old selves.

At this point, things don't look good and might want to look to just have fun the rest of the way and hope for the best.

After two events, they trail the Bulldogs by .8, which will be very difficult to make up and there are still other teams to worry about.

Rotation 1:

Maranda Smith got the Gators off to a bad start on bars when she lost could not grab the bar switching from the low to high bar. It looked like the Gators might have been back on track after Nicola followed Smith with a 9.775, but none of the gymnasts except Melanie Sinclair could stick the landings and it showed in the scores.

Sinclair had the high with a 9.875, and UF's total was a mediocre 49.05. That has to be the Gators lowest total of the day if they are to have any chance of winning.

They will have to play catch up with Georgia, who looked great on the floor with a 49.475. That was top score of the rotation. Alabama and Utah posted 49.1s.

The Gators had the lowest score of the rotation and will now move to possibly their weakest event: the balance beam.

Pre-Meet:

All the teams have been very loud and spirited warming up. The Gators were the second team to enter after Alabama. They entered the arena Gator-chomping and was greeted by boos from the Bulldog fans.

The Stegeman Coliseum is close to capacity and people are still filing in. Georgia was introduced right after UF, and , as expected, the crowd erupted.

After the other three teams walked in and the National Anthem was sung, the Gators are ready to start the meet on the uneven bars.

For those of you looking for a dramatic finish, you might be disappointed as both Georgia and UF have byes in the final rotation.
