Theatre Strike Force to air weekly sitcom

This fall, on-campus residents will have something new to watch on Friday nights.

Theatre Strike Force, in conjunction with the Inter-Residence Hall Association, will present "Oppie's Friend Gene," a weekly half-hour sitcom that will air Friday at 8:30 p.m.

The show, which began filming this past summer, chronicles the adventures of Oppie Oppenheimer, a socially awkward yet well-intentioned freshman and Gene Schwartz, a carefree, flamboyant prankster, who's trying to regain his once-godly social status after an unfortunate event.

Filup Molina, the show's head writer and director, said TSF is in the process of finalizing all remaining shooting, and the show is projected to run for nine episodes.

Spencer Hamilton, who works as head of the production crew, said he hopes the sitcom can inspire students to get out of their dorms and embark on crazy adventures of their own.

"This is something special that we've been working on for a long time," he said. "It's been hard work, but when you have a talented cast and phenomenal writers such as [Molina], it makes the job fun and worthwhile."
