A man allegedly threatened to rape a woman after running from police and forcing his way into her apartment Friday.
At about midnight, deputies saw Tyree Cortez Oliver, 20, of Gainesville, at The Crossing at Santa Fe Apartments, at 3205 NW 83rd St., trying to open a car, according to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. Oliver saw them and ran away.
At about 6 p.m., a deputy was patrolling at Santa Fe Oaks Apartments, at 8203 NW 31st Ave., when a woman went to them and said Oliver threatened her, the report said.
She was smoking outside her apartment when he offered her $100 to hide him, the report said. When she declined, he grabbed her and went into the apartment.
Oliver told her to bandage his wounds and said that if she didn’t hide him, he would rape her, the report said. When someone knocked on the door, he ran out the back door and went inside another resident’s storage room where deputies found him.
He admitted to deputies to stealing a car the night before at a Circle K, at 9303 NW 39th Ave., the report said. He said he ran away when someone told him they owned the car.
Oliver was charged with unarmed burglary of a dwelling, grand theft of a motor vehicle and burglary with assault, the report said.
Oliver remained in the Alachua County Jail Sunday in lieu of a $150,000 bond.
