Editor’s Note: The Alligator’s Editorial Board reached out to Pope about Chou’s letter. Pope referred to SG Finance Code 808.12, which prohibits money allocated to SG funded organizations to be used “in support of or against a political party at any level.”

‘Their legacy will live on’: Students remember MSD victims

Seventeen white luminaries with the names of the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting surrounded them, serving as a reminder of the painful second anniversary. March for Our Lives Gainesville hosted a vigil on Plaza of the Americas Friday night to honor the victims.

MSD alum Anisha Saripalli, an 18-year-old biomedical engineering sophomore and the March for Our Lives Gainesville treasurer, writes the name of her friend down on the gun violence victim board. Carmen Schentrup was a Marjory Stoneman Douglas student who died in the shooting just days after she was accepted into UF.
