After weeks of speculation by the press and by the public, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama selected Sen. Joe Biden, a Democrat representing Delaware, as his running mate Saturday.

In a year of shrinking state funds, UF President Bernie Machen is pleased to see two numbers stay the same: 49 and 17.

According to the Miami Herald former UF safety Jamar Hornsby has enrolled at East Mississippi Community College where he will play football this season. He will be eligible to transfer to another FBS school next year. Hornsby was kicked off the team earlier this summer after it was discovered that he made nearly $3,000 worth of charges to the credit card of deceased UF student Ashley Slonina. Hornsby was originally arrested on a felony charge. According to Alachua County court records, the charges were reduced Wednesday to four misdemeanor counts of unauthorized use of a credit card.
