COVID-19 and Sports: A six-month timeline

March 12 – NCAA cancels the remaining athletic events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments as well as all other championships. Notable sports cut short included gymnastics, golf, baseball, softball, tennis, and track and field.


In the last week, there were 209 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Gainesville.

Does this really have to be said?

This was going to be a breezy editorial leaning on the camaraderie of Gators across Alachua County doing  their part to suppress the spread for the sake of sports. Instead, it’s a desperate call to action from a sports writer that wants to survive this fall semester.
