Locals: Pay attention to Plum Creek

If you’ve seen the eastern half of Gainesville, there’s no question that we are home to seriously impoverished areas. A lack of quality jobs and economic development keeps the area depressed and few — if any — local leaders currently hold the key to solving the never-ending crisis. Some Gainesville residents are pinning their hopes to a company who owns more land than anyone else in Alachua County.

Magic Man’s ‘Before The Waves’ derivative, but fun

Magic Man has grown a bit since its inception in 2010. Originally consisting only of vocalist Alex Caplow and guitarist/keyboardist Sam Vanderhoop Lee, Magic Man expanded to a quintet for the 2013 EP, "You Are Here." Their new studio album "Before The Waves" caters to the indie pop and synth pop crowd but fails to stand out among their contemporaries.
