Swamp of Love: How to make your summer budget stretch

I would assume that most college students know the struggle of being broke. Between feeding ourselves and that dreaded monthly rent, we’re left over with hardly any money to have a social life (thank gosh for lady’s nights, am I right girls?). For some, this can put a damper on their dating life, but for others, it just means learning how to be creative. Luckily for you, I’m here to give you a few suggestions.

The Starving Gator: Peach Valley Café

Peach Valley Café is a hidden gem of Gainesville’s dining. Located on 3275 SW 34th Street, it is a Southern style breakfast and lunch café that somewhat reminds me of a Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans. I’d never heard of it until I went with a group of friends to celebrate my friend’s birthday.

The Starving Gator: New York's hidden gems

I’m spending the summer in New York City for an internship and, being the foodie that I am, I mapped a strategic plan of restaurants I wanted to hit months in advance. The Wandering Gator: Goodbye to Florence

Florence gave me more in a mere six weeks than college has given me as a whole in two years. I came into college with no sense of direction. To be honest, my only purpose for majoring in engineering was pleasing my family. For the past few years, I have been desperately searching for myself to no avail. I did not feel the need to do well in my classes, I spread myself too thin amongst clubs in an attempt to find someplace I belonged, and I just was not happy.

Darts & Laurels 7/3/14

It’s Summer B 2014, and freshmen desperation is in the air: You can find them moving in herds of 50 across Midtown, clogging the Starbucks on campus and wearing head-to-toe orange and blue. This isn’t a dig, though, class of 2018. We were in your (brand-new) shoes at one point, and we’re imparting some wisdom to you: Nobody is too cool for an umbrella. Carry an umbrella. And call your mom once a while.
