Florida Tomorrow exceeds goal

The finale event of the Florida Tomorrow campaign recognized the record 865,000 gifts that contributed to raising more than $1.7 billion — $201 million more than the goal that was set at the 2005 launch of the campaign, according to a UF press release.


Participants in the Fall 2012 Underwear Dash strip off their clothes, which will be donated to St. Francis House, a Gainesville homeless shelter and soup kitchen. About 24 trash bags of clothing were donated.

Students drink, drive less

From 1991 to 2011, the number of high school teenagers aged 16 and older who drink and drive decreased by 54 percent, according to a study released recently by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
