Letter to the Editor: Students for Justice in Palestine stands for Gaza

On Tuesday, UF’s Students for Justice in Palestine organized a vigil and walkout during an event featuring former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) sergeant Yoni Michanie. The event commemorated yet another year of SJP organizers putting together a vigil to mourn those in Gaza. Year after year, Israel attacks unprotected Gaza with state of the art bombs and missiles. Following the 2014 conflict between Israel and Palestine, the United Nations came out with a report in 2018 stating that Gaza could become uninhabitable by 2020 if the conditions remained as they were.

Sophomore Thayer Hall leads the team with 369 kills on the season through 26 matches, 144 more kills than the next-best player.

Impeachment is a strong and often fearlessly used word, so much so that the popularity of the word on Merriam-Webster’s website jumped 3,600 percent the day House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced an impeachment inquiry into President Trump. By all means, impeachment is a rallying cry that screams justice, accountability and the need for marginalized voices to be loud and clear in the face of adversity. It’s for these reasons that our conscience and decency as a student body force us to begin the process of impeaching president Michael Murphy.
