The best of FEST: playlist

FEST is taking over Gainesville this weekend for the 17th time. With punk-rock fanatics from across the globe roaming the streets, it seems like a good time to curate some of our favorite tunes to blare when we want to headbang out our emotions. The best part? You can see every band featured on the playlist this weekend.

The Man behind the FEST

Tony Weinbender has two great loves: music and Gainesville. Seventeen years ago he lost $500 trying to combine those, but in doing so, he created an event that became a city staple and a community that never stops coming back for more.

Forward Deanne Rose (21) scored her first goal of the season in Thursday night’s 3-0 win over Arkansas. She followed it with her second minutes later.

Florida defeats Arkansas, clinches berth in SEC Tournament

The Gators (6-9-3, 4-4-2 SEC) certainly seemed inspired by the pre-match ceremonies to honor their seniors when they came out in the first half. It was just the 10th minute when midfielder Briana Solis hit a screamer from 20 yards out for her fourth career goal, putting UF up 1-0 early.
