Senior Isabelle Lendl earned the first outright win of her career on Tuesday at the Dale McNamara Invitational, bringing her scorecard for the tournament to a 210 (-6).
Florida is currently second after balancing its first two rounds at the Dale McNamara Invitational on Monday.
Camilla Hedberg started her 2012 season perfectly on Tuesday. Not only did the Gators win the Cougar Classic, but the sophomore also grabbed the first individual title of her college career.
When Camilla Hedberg shot a 69 (-3) on Sunday, she was just getting started. In the second day of the Cougar Classic, Hedberg turned in a round of 66 (-6), which allowed her to move into first place.
It was a rough start for Santiago Gavino on Sunday. The redshirt sophomore started off his first tournament as a Gator by bogeying three of his first four holes.
Recent success on the green may help T.J. Vogel add a green jacket to his wardrobe.
About two weeks after athletic director Jeremy Foley was shocked by the news of Jan Dowling resigning from her position as Florida women’s head golf coach, he was once again caught by surprise. This time it was by assistant coach Emily Bastel.
As the Gators continued to drop in the leaderboard at the NCAA Championships, junior Tyler McCumber finished strong. McCumber was able to card a solid 72 (+1) on Thursday to wrap up the season with a second place finish.
Florida went into the second day of the NCAA Championships tied at second overall.
For the last 11 years the UF men’s golf team has made it to the NCAA Championships, and today they will mark their 12th consecutive appearance. Although the Gators finished runner-up at the NCAA East Regional, they are trying to stay focused to avoid getting distracted by the idea of winning the title.
Within 24 hours of Florida men’s tennis coach Andy Jackson announcing his resignation, Jan Dowling, the women’s golf coach, followed suit.
The Gators looked like they were off to a good start. Entering the NCAA Championships, they had already claimed two more top-five finishes than last year, as well as having a team average of 296.70, which ranked them as the third-best average in school history.
During the 2011-12 season, the worst the Gators have placed in a tournament was 13th at the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview.
For the second consecutive year, the women’s golf team will make an appearance at the NCAA Championships today. For Evan Jensen, this will also be her last.
For a minute, the Gators hopes at continuing on to the NCAA Championships looked like they were going to be crushed. The men’s golf team finished day one of the NCAA East Regional on Thursday at +11, putting them 16 strokes behind the leader in 10th place.
For Evan Jensen and Andrea Watts, this year’s postseason couldn’t be more significant to them. The seniors have a chance to wrap up their collegiate career with an appearance in the NCAA Championships.
After both the men’s and women’s golf teams entered the final day of their Southeastern Conference tournament in fourth place, only the men were able to improve their finish.
It’s not any easy task to defend a Southeastern Conference title, and that’s what the men’s golf team found out Friday.
