Kibert was a Holland professor in the M.E. Rinker Sr. School of Construction Management and the director of the Powell Center for Construction and Environment.
Mickle, the first Black student to earn an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in 1965, died of cancer Jan. 26. He was 76.

“Do good, and say ‘I love you,’” is the phrase echoing through the UF community in honor of Sophia Lambert, a first-year UF theatre and psychology major who died Jan.16 after a fatal crash on West University Avenue that sent five others to the hospital. She was 18 years old.

Paxton will be remembered for her encouraging nature and selflessness, her mother, Lisa Paxton, said. Her favorite saying was, “Progress over perfection.”
Gainesville Police implemented Gator STEP, while the city commission passed a traffic safety plan that includes creating a task force to provide short-term safety solutions on University Avenue, including a speed limit reduction, barriers and flashing lights at intersections.

The renovated Thomas M. and Irene B. Kirbo Innovation and Learning Laboratory opened in January. It now has seven simulation rooms for training.
