Harvest of Hope Fest offers help for migrant workers

Fraternities and sororities compete in step show

About 4,197 people streamed into the O'Connell Center on Saturday night to see nine of the nation's best step teams face off in the 20th Annual Florida Invitational Step Show hosted by UF's Black Student Union. Each fraternity and sorority performing in the show was invited by the UF chapter of their organization. No UF teams performed at the event.

Tree service employee dies after crane accident

A Gaston's Tree Service employee was killed Saturday after being electrocuted while working. When the man was dumping mulch with a crane at 21812 N.W. 91st St., the crane accidentally broke a set of power lines, said Alachua County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Carol Davis.
