This is Tony Tam writing the first entry for the multicultural blog at the Alligator. I want to focus on the many diverse groups that make their home at UF.
One of UF's values is to "believe in a diversity of people, thought and opinion." Through the Alligator, students can get an inside perspective on issues that are important to the different groups that make the student body.
I am writing this blog because I feel that students can learn and experience different cultures that are represented by the diverse student population if they are well informed.
Currently, I am a senior at UF. I am involved in Students Taking Action Against Racism and the Hispanic Student Association. I am also an active member in the Asian-American community here on campus.
One of the upcoming multicultural events of note is "Seoul Sho," a cultural and fashion show centered on Korea. The show will take place in the Reitz Union Rion Ballroom at 6:30 p.m. today and is part of the university's Kaleidoscope: Asian and Asian American Awareness Month festivities.
