More from Wednesday's practice

On Wednesday, the UF football team

prepared for Kentucky in a way most would never imagine. They

actually used crowd noise (not the kind with bouncing

balls and squeaky sneakers, either). This weekend will be the most

excited that Wildcats fans have been about their football team in a

while, and should result in a packed house and the kind of

atmosphere usually reserved for Rupp Arena.

By the way, does anyone else find

it odd that Kentucky is ranked above the Gators, but it would be

viewed as an upset if they beat UF? That says a lot for the poll

system, which merely reacts to trends and numbers rather than rank

the nation's best teams in order. I'm not saying the Gators should

be ranked higher, it's just an interesting thought.

Meanwhile, the Gators are fully

rested after a bye week and looking to rebound from their two

straight losses. Wide receiver Percy Harvin has had "his best week

of practice," according to coach Urban Meyer.

While being fully healthy for the

first time in a while has certainly helped, Meyer said Harvin has

had some help from another source as well - former NFL wideout

Chris Carter.

"(Harvin) and Chris Carter have a

little deal," Meyer said. "They talk to each other and they spent

some time together. Chris always talks about taking your game to

the next level, and he's on of those guys that Percy admires.

Another fact is that Percy is 100 percent healthy as well."

MOORE CONFIDENT TO FACE

WILDCATS

Gators running back Kestahn Moore

reappeared on the UF stat sheet two weeks ago against LSU with a

12-carry, 79-yard performance against one of the nation's top

rushing defenses. This week he'll face the country's No. 99 rushing

defense.

"They've struggled a little bit,

but they're playing against the Gators so they might step up their

game a little more," Moore said. "Any team going against the

defending national champions is going to step their game up a

little bit just to beat us. I feel like if I get the opportunity to

run the ball, I could."

TAMME KEY FOR UK OFFENSE
Stopping Wildcats tight end Jacob

Tamme will be a priority for the Gators defense. Tamme's size,

speed and hands pose a threat to opposing defenses, and UF will

have to focus on him to slow down quarterback Andre' Woodson and

the UK passing attack.

"You have to kind of key on him

because they use him a lot on mismatches," UF safety Tony Joiner

said. "You have to be aware of who is guarding him and the

situations because they are going to try to get the ball to

him."

The combination of Woodson, Tamme

and the other talented UK wideouts will be unlike anything the

Gators have faced this season, a fact Joiner is trying to help his

young teammates in the secondary understand.

"It's hard every week to get the

young guys to understand what they're about to face because it's

their first year," he said. "Every week they face something new,

and this is a quarterback who is bringing something new to the

table. We've just got to get ready in practice and by watching him

on film."
