UF could take over Greek houses

Members of UF's Board of Trustees discussed the possibility of incorporating UF's fraternity and sorority houses into the campus Housing Department.

Trustee Al Warrington, chair of the board's Committee on Finance and Facilities, said the Greek houses would be treated like dorms.

UF is already handling billing and collections for the Greek chapters, and the new plan would allow UF to oversee building maintenance as well.

"Some of them are in good shape, but some of them you probably wouldn't want your kids living in," Warrington said. "Housing taking over maintenance could be a good way to turn that around."
