I am not part of the UF Faculty Practice Plan, but I do know that it is common practice (especially in large doctor groups) for doctors to be paid a base salary and then additional income based on how many patients they see. That way, people who work harder and see more patients get additional income.
Further, I am not aware of anyone in the Faculty Practice Plan who squandered billions of UF dollars and contributed to the collapse of the economy like the executives at AIG did.
Now, imagine that article without the word "bonus." If the headline had read "Doctors earn typical income for working hard and taking care of their patients," I doubt there would be much controversy.
