This summer I wrote a blog about cheap and creative dates in Gainesville. I figured this would be a good topic to revisit since we’re already four weeks into class and our financial aid is probably gone. Here it is guys (and gals), creative dates that won’t destroy your wallet:

1. Dinner by the Hippodrome
There’s just something about an intimate, home-made meal with your boo. The Hippodrome is a great spot to take your date because it’s a gorgeous building, especially at night under the lights downtown. Make a small meal, dress up, and take out your date. Extra points if you bring electric candles.
2. Thrifting in Micanopy
Micanopy is a small town about 20 minutes away with a lot of interesting antique shops. From old bookstores to antique music shops, you’re sure to find something that interests both of you. Not to mention, everything’s a little cheaper there. At the end of the day, grab dinner and dessert at one of the cute local restaurants.
3. Skate Station
Let’s be real. You don’t actually know someone until they embarrass themselves in front of you. Skating is a great way to laugh at each other and relive your childhood at the same time. You can get greasy chili cheese fries after and talk about the deep things in life. What’s the best part? Skating only costs $3.
Dating in college can be rough because we’re all struggling in the money department, but it doesn’t have to be nonexistent. Don't be afraid to try something new! I can promise you nine times out of 10 being cheap will be mistaken for creative.
