Deputies arrested a Circle K employee Tuesday who was accused of stealing more than $1,385 in refunds over about three weeks.

At 9:50 a.m., a manager at the store, at 9260 NW 39th Ave., told deputies she discovered Tracey Ann Filinuk, 49, of Gainesville, was making fraudulent refunds, according to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

The manager said Filinuk made the transactions when she had access to the cash register, the report said.

Deputies were shown video surveillance and several reports of the transactions, the report said. The refunds were made from Jan. 9 to Jan. 28.

Filinuk admitted to deputies she made the fraudulent returns and used the money for personal use, the report said. The money from the returns were loaded onto prepaid debit cards.

She was charged with fraudulently obtaining property under $20,000, the report said.

Filinuk could not be reached and the manager declined to comment on the employee’s actions.

She was released from the Alachua County Jail Wednesday on her own recognizance.
