A man accused of driving into another county with a missing child to escape from deputies Wednesday.

At 4:37 p.m., a deputy was looking for a stolen Dodge Charger and a missing 14-year-old when they saw Caleb Joseph Green, 19, of Live Oak, Florida, driving the car south on US 441 near O’Leno State Park, at 410 SE Oleno Park Road, according to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

The deputy chased after him, the report said. Green passed cars in no-passing zones, drove on the wrong side of the road and ran four stop signs, the report said. Green drove into Union County and then south back into Alachua County where he was stopped.

The missing child was found in the car along with three other passengers, the report said. The passengers told deputies they repeatedly told Green to stop driving and let them out.

When searching the car, deputies found a sandwich bag with an ounce of marijuana, the report said. Green had traded two stolen guns for the marijuana. Deputies also found two small bags of methamphetamine in Green’s wallet.

Green was charged with fleeing an officer, kidnapping an adult, grand theft of a vehicle, dealing in stolen property, abuse of a child without great bodily harm, possession of amphetamine and possession of three grams or less of dangerous drugs.

He remained in the Alachua County Jail Thursday in lieu of a $656,000 bond.
