After a six-month search, UF selected a new vice president for student affairs.

D’Andra Mull will begin the position Jan. 13. She was selected from a list of three finalists, which was narrowed down from more than 100 applicants.

“The search committee did extensive work and did a national search to find a highly qualified applicant pool and they were successful in that regard,” said UF spokesperson Steve Orlando.

Mull said she was excited and humbled when she was chosen for the position.

“I talk a lot about comprehensive excellence and the UF position spoke to that,” she said. “When I came to campus that’s what I saw.”

Mull’s start will end Win Phillips’ interim time holding the position. Former vice president for student affairs David Parrott was fired in April following an investigation into misused administrative funds.

Mull has been The Ohio State University’s associate vice president for student life and dean of students since 2017. She was also assistant vice president for student life at the university.

UF President Kent Fuchs said he is pleased Mull will fill the position.

“She has considerable experience in supporting the academic mission and enhancing the student experience,” Fuchs wrote in an email. “Ohio State University has many similarities to UF, which will help Dr. Mull in learning about our university.”

Mull earned her Ph.D at Ohio State in educational policy and leadership.

Mull’s responsibilities will include leading student affairs, strategic planning, assessment and staff development, according to the search firm Spelman Johnson, the company that UF hired to find a new vice president.

“We’re there to make sure that the student experience is the one they need both inside and outside of the classroom,” Mull said.

Parrott’s salary was more than $100,000, according to Alligator archives.

“Student Affairs at UF is an exceptionally strong organization,” Fuchs said. “And Dr. Mull’s addition as vice president makes an exceptional organization even stronger.”
