A 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were killed during a shooting in Hawthorne Monday afternoon.

The shooting is under investigation as a murder-suicide, Alachua County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Frank Kinsey said.

Alachua County Sheriff's office received a frantic call at about 4:35 p.m. from the father of the boys about a shooting at 16331 SE County Road 2082, Kinsey said.

A 45-year-old female, who law enforcement believes is the mother of the two males, also had a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, Kinsey said.

ACSO is not searching for additional suspects and there is no threat to the public, he said.
