Six days after its season opener in Charleston, South Carolina, Florida faced a quick turnaround for the Inverness Invitational, competing in Toledo, Ohio, for the biannual event.

The Gators attempted to defend their 2023 title during the two-day tournament. On Monday, teams played two rounds, and Florida led the pack with a score of 29-over.

However, in the final round, Ohio State University put together the best round of the tournament at 3-under, securing the Buckeyes a three-stroke lead over the Gators. Florida finished runner up in the tournament.

The field included the host team, University of Toledo, along with Coastal Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast University, Illinois State, Middle Tennessee, Notre Dame, North Carolina State, Ohio State University, Princeton University, University of South Alabama and Texas Christian University.

Freshmen Megan Propeck and Katelyn Huber competed on the lineup for the second tournament in a row. In their debut, the pair made up two of the top three Florida finishers.

At the Inverness Invitational, Propeck continued her momentum by leading the Gators. She finished round two 3-over par, which allowed her to enter round three tied in third place with Princeton sophomore Sarah Lim.

In her final round, Propeck fell back to tie for eighth place with teammate sophomore Addison Klonowski, Ohio State sophomore Nellie Ong and NC State senior Vania Simont.

Meanwhile, Huber played her best round of golf for the tournament in the third round, scoring two strokes over par.

Sophomore Siuue Wu played in her collegiate debut in this tournament. Over the first two rounds, she tied Klonowski for 20th place at 11-over. Although she competed as an individual in this tournament, her score bodes well for future competition.

Klonowski had one of the lowest-scoring rounds of the tournament in round three with a score of 2-under. This propelled her from her round two position to the second-highest placing Gator.

Five Florida golfers finished in the top-21, with junior Paula Francisco rounding out the team scores tied for twelfth place.

Florida will return to Gainesville before traveling to Hutchinson, Kansas, for the Oklahoma University Intercollegiate on Oct. 6-7.
