After joking about those in orange jerseys being moved to the quarterback position, Gators head coach Jon Sumrall broke down the full injury report as spring practice kicked off.
He said that he anticipates Tuesday’s report on the first day of spring to extend through the next 15 days of practice.
“We're going to compete every day here,” Sumrall said. “We're going to tackle in the spring, we're gonna do all that stuff, we're going to get tougher, play physical. We're also going to be smart. We're not gonna make dumb decisions with how we expose guys to certain parts of the practice.”
Dallas Wilson
The wideout was kept out for most of his freshman campaign, as he dealt with a lingering right-foot injury.
Sumrall said he is “being held out for an abundance of caution.” The first-year head coach said that he and the rest of the staff consulted with Paul Silvestri, Florida’s senior director of sports health and performance, and the rest of the team doctors on Wilson’s injury.
“He would play if we had a game this week,” Sumrall said. “Out of an abundance of caution, I’ve had guys that had some similar issues, and I want to make sure we’re doing everything we can for him to get extremely healed, like 100%.”
Wilson competed in ‘The Gauntlet,’ but exhibited a “flare-up” in his foot. While no serious damage was shown on the imaging, Sumrall said he wants to be smart before throwing Wilson into full-contact activities.
Myles Graham
Graham underwent a minor procedure on his right shoulder in December. The sophomore will be limited throughout the spring, sidelining him for major tackling drills.
The linebacker led the Gators with 76 tackles during the 2025 season after landing on the All-SEC Freshman team in 2024.
Sumrall said Graham being unavailable for spring practice isn’t a major concern.
“We've seen him play, I want to see some other guys,” he said.
Titus Bullard
Bullard, a redshirt sophomore, appeared in one game in 2025. He is dealing with a hamstring issue, but “should be back pretty soon,” according to Sumrall.
Dijon Johnson
Johnson underwent knee surgery in September, but will see the field later in the spring.
The redshirt junior cornerback started the first four games for Florida before the season-ending injury.
“He's going to have some return-to-play activities this spring, wasn't out there today practicing, but should have an opportunity to do more as spring proceeds,” Sumrall said.
Javion Toombs and Kamran James
Both Toombs and James were non-contact participants in Tuesday’s practice.
Toombs, a fifth-year cornerback, suffered a shoulder injury in the offseason, while James had surgery on his right shoulder.
“Both will go through a lot,” Sumrall said. “Probably won't get a whole lot of contact because of what they're coming off of.”
Fletcher Westphal
Westphal, a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman, is dealing with numerous injuries. The Virginia native will be limited primarily due to a wrist injury suffered ahead of the 2025 regular season.
“He’ll be limited in what we allow him to do,” Sumrall said.
OUT:
There are five Gators that Sumrall listed as out for the spring. Kendall Guervil, Jalen Wiggins, C.J. Bronaugh, Chancellor Campbell and Daniel Pierre-Louis are the group that will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
“You won’t see them doing anything other than rehab-type stuff,” he said.
The injuries to the five are all preexisting issues the staff knew about already. It was “nothing necessarily new,” Sumrall said.
Both Guervil and Bronaugh’s injuries are from high school, with Guervil’s knee complications and Bronaugh sustaining a shoulder injury that the Florida staff needed to address. Wiggins and Pierre-Louis both saw hip injuries, and Campbell is working through knee issues.
