As my first year at UF is coming to a close, I have seen how diverse a large university can be.  I think it is very impressive how so many people come together to what may seem like minor events, but are for a very good cause.

Pride Awareness Month is a great approach to the cause as opposed to Gay Pride Month as this month of April isn’t just for those who are already out with their sexual orientation.  The purpose is to make people aware that this lifestyle is something present in the community and people should embrace it and be proud of the community’s diversity.

With such a large and infamous hate group as the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas coming to Gainesville this Sunday I think it’s great how people of the university and Gainesville are coming together to support each other regardless of sexuality.
