Gainesville police arrested a man late Saturday for driving under the influence and spitting on a nurse who was treating him.James Rogers, 33, was driving while allegedly under the influence of alcohol at around 11:30 p.m. According to the arrest report, a GPD officer stopped Rogers’ car because he was driving at night with no headlights. Rogers was also drifting and hitting his brakes for no apparent reason.Instead of pulling into nearby parking lots, the officer noted that Rogers stopped his car in the road and drove touching the curb. He called for another officer after noting the smell of alcohol and Rogers’ slow and lethargic movements, bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and drooling.

The original destination was headed to Punta Gorda, Florida.Gainesville Fire Rescue received a call at 8:24 a.m. and were told that a crew member was having a medical emergency. According to Gainesville Fire’s Twitter, the pilot suffered from a seizure. GFR District Chief Don Campbell declined to elaborate on the patient’s condition.
Gainesville police arrested two young men on Memorial Day for allegedly breaking into someone’s home and stealing their dog.A witness saw Kaylan Gandy, 22, and Deven Collins, 21, allegedly knocking on the front door of a house along Northwest Eighth Avenue. According to the report, they tried to turn the door knob, but it seemed to be locked.The witness stated she lost sight of Gandy and Collins when they walked around to the back of the house. While they were out of sight, she reportedly heard four “pops” that sounded like glass breaking.

Florida Highway Patrol arrested a man Sunday after he allegedly collided with another car while driving under the influence with a dog in the car.Jeffery Holland, 58, was driving a gold-colored Saturn when the incident occurred on State Road 26 and NE 47th Street, according to the arrest report. At about 12:15 p.m., the front of the Saturn collided with the rear end of a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck.
A student from Gainesville was charged early Wednesday morning for allegedly stealing a scooter.According to the Gainesville Police Department report, it was around 1:45 a.m. when a Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red scooter. Jalen Kelsey-Patterson reportedly fled from the ASO deputy on the scooter.Kelsey-Patterson, 23, fled to Woodland Park Apartments, located on SE 20th Place, where he allegedly abandoned the scooter and continued on foot. Kelsey-Patterson was the only one on the scooter, according to the arrest report.

Law enforcement arrested a Gainesville woman charged with robbery of the TD Bank at 7515 W. University Ave. on Tuesday morning.According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Sacoya Everts, 47, walked into the bank at around 8:50 a.m. After pausing to cover her hands with socks, Everts handed a teller a handwritten note stating, “This is a robbery.”The teller provided her with a stack of money as well as a GPS tracking device, following TD Bank protocol. Everts took the money and placed it in the front of her clothes, according to the ASO’s arrest report.The bank manager, who witnessed the transaction, and the bank teller both activated the silent alarms as Everts walked out the door, the report said. The manager then secured the doors to the bank and saw Everts walk east on West University Avenue until she was out of sight.
A man was shot early Saturday morning after reportedly being involved in a dispute near UF campus. Gainesville Police is currently searching for the shooter, according to a press release.
