University police preserve secure campus environment

On behalf of the UF Police Department, I would like to welcome all of our new students, as well as returning students, back to campus. I also want to take this opportunity to discuss our department, convey the mission our staff strives to achieve daily and introduce each of you to the programming and coordination our department provides that may help you safely enjoy your stay while living, studying and working within the UF and Gainesville communities.

Each fall at UF marks the beginning of a new era as another group of recently admitted Gators arrive on campus. These students can look forward to defining moments that will be etched in their minds and will live on long after they walk across the stage on graduation day.

And for the baby Gators, we on the Editorial Board would like to extend you a special welcome to our beloved UF, the very same school where our former quarterback now models underwear on the side. We hope you have adjusted well (stocking up on Ramen, avoiding your first hangover for as long as possible) to your first few days of college life in the land of never-ending orange and blue.

2,900 grads to walk

About 1,400 undergraduate students plan to attend the graduation ceremony Saturday, according to Donna Stricker, director of the commencement.
