Each fall at UF marks the beginning of a new era as another group of recently admitted Gators arrive on campus. These students can look forward to defining moments that will be etched in their minds and will live on long after they walk across the stage on graduation day.

Welcome back to the heart of the Gator Nation, Gators. And for the baby Gators, we on the Editorial Board would like to extend you a special welcome to our beloved UF, the very same school where our former quarterback now models underwear on the side. We hope you have adjusted well (stocking up on Ramen, avoiding your first hangover for as long as possible) to your first few days of college life in the land of never-ending orange and blue.
I’ve got some advice for freshmen.
The Alligator was founded in 1906 as The University News, which was an independent, student-owned newspaper created to serve the University of Florida when it opened in Gainesville. In 1912, the newspaper became a part of the University of Florida administration, and was renamed the Florida Alligator.
Despite losing nine players to the 2010 NFL Draft, the Gators are still entering the season with high expectations.
Every year the UF volleyball team kicks off its season with the Orange and Blue Scrimmage. Before the scrimmage starts, head coach Mary Wise introduces all of the players to the fans that have come to watch.
With more underclassman than Miami had players, the Gators had a lot of opportunities for youth to shine in its 2010 season debut.

In the fall, Gainesville is a hustling, bustling place.
Alright, so you’re kind of sick of Starbucks. I don’t blame you. Shelling out almost $4 for a urine-sample-sized coffee can put a damper on your caffeine rush.
Gainesville is home to a very diverse group of students, and in that particular spirit it also houses a diverse group of music venues to serve your auditory needs.
The Backstage Lounge just had its biggest crowd in months. Almost 60 people attended the rock lounge and bar to celebrate its fourth year under the current ownership Sunday.
The long list of local restaurants in Gainesville may seem daunting at first, but by the end of this brief tutorial you’ll be well on your way to finding your favorite nook in the midst of the multitude of local eateries.
Studying can take a lot out of a student, and no one likes to work on an empty stomach. Thankfully, there are plenty of dining options for all palates on campus, and lots of payment options, too.
