Florida men's basketball falls to Miami on the road

BOARDING PASS: International students visit family

The tradition of spending the holidays with family and friends transcends languages and oceans. This Winter Break, UF international students won’t be so different from American students. There are about 6,000 international students studying at UF, according to the admissions website. For them, seeing their loved ones might require longer flights, fuller suitcases and tighter hugs. This could be some of these students’ first times seeing their families and friends in more than a year. Some will be going home for the holidays.

Low-income student applications rise

PerFoRo, short for person following robot, was built by Sarthak Kaingade for his intelligent machine design lab class’s robot demonstration at the new UF Engineering building on Dec. 2, 2015. The 23-year-old UF electrical and computer engineering masters student built the robot in two and half months, costing $400 dollars. The robot is designed to be a shopping cart that follows its user.

The long, golden chain passed from hand to hand until it reached UF President Kent Fuchs on Friday.

The main foyer of the new expansion to the Reitz Student Union, seen on Oct. 29, 2015, was designed with UF’s mascot in mind. The railing on all three floors has alligator-shaped holes cut out and the wooden ceiling is patterned to mimic the underbelly of a gator.
