Education without borders: UF international students celebrate United World College Day

Cabrera Benavides always had a sense he would go international for school, he said. At 17, he joined United World College in Norway, an organization dedicated to uniting students worldwide through education. The UWC program selects students from all over the world to attend one of 18 international boarding schools for two years, then enroll in a university.

No. 12 Florida extends win streak to six with sweep of Alabama

Florida volleyball extended its winning streak to six games and kicked off Southeastern Conference play with a sweep of Alabama at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center Wednesday night. The Gators moved to 51-0 all-time against the Crimson Tide, with 47 of those wins coming in straight sets.

24-year-old inmate found dead in cell at the Alachua County Jail

A 24-year-old inmate at the Alachua County Jail was found dead in his cell Tuesday afternoon. The Alachua County Sheriff's Office is conducting a two-part investigation to determine how the inmate died and if his death could have been prevented.

Gators tested by South Florida ahead of third top-25 opponent this season

Florida avoided a disastrous upset against USF Sept. 17. The Gators defeated the Bulls 31-28 despite their defense giving up 286 rushing yards and redshirt sophomore quarterback Anthony Richardson throwing two interceptions. The old adage — one UF is currently living by — is that an ugly win is still a win.

More study space open in Marston Science Library with third floor renovation complete

After more than two months of construction, Marston’s third floor opened Sept. 12, said Patrick Reakes, a senior associate dean of UF Libraries. The fourth and fifth floors of the library remain closed due to continued renovation, Reakes said. They could reopen in almost two months.
