Finally, students can register to vote on campus.
USC should never have let Emmanuel Moody transfer to UF.
I am writing in response to Monday's article, "UF band marches on." I can relate to Scarlet Basler's frustrations in being assigned to play a sousaphone after years at the oboe. I joined the Gator Band in 1961 having played trumpet and baritone in high school, only to find all of those positions filled. I was asked to join the crew of the Big Bass Drum, a six-foot drum that sat on a large rolled carriage.
Hungry UF students without cash and a low balance on their Gator 1 Cards have a new payment option for on-campus dining, according to Student Government officials.
They meander across campus, maps held high in front of their faces, barely knowing where they are going in the next four minutes - let alone the next four years. Yes, UF's newest batch of fresh-faced, doe-eyed freshmen is here, and they are, for the most part, clueless.
UF may be without one of its starting cornerbacks for the season opener.
I heard through the Greekvine that the Greek community needs a makeover. Apparently some silly television show filled with sex and sex and beer - oh my! - bruised their peach-like reputation. I put together some slogans for them. Here's my top sorority slogan: "To-ga, to-ga, to-gather under the bonds of sisterhood is a wonderful idea." It says, "We're a little formal, but we're here for the party, too." They can thank me later.
Standing in Turlington Plaza with a plastic stars-and-stripes top hat on his head and a voter registration form in his hand, it's hard to tell if Frank Bracco is sweating from the blazing afternoon sun or the stress of so many excuses.
While many have had the option for over a year, some students still don't know about Plan B.
By spring 2008, students looking for a place to chill in the Reitz Union will have more than the circular blue couch at the first floor entrance, according to one Reitz Union official.
For Kayla Griffin, the second time around is the charm. After quitting rush week last year, she came back to school this year with the confidence to go Greek.
After spending the summer interning in Washington D.C., I?ve learned that politics are about as useful as hanging chads, and congressional interns are more stuck up than their do-nothing bosses on Capitol Hill.
While many UF students left Gainesville for the summer for internships, jobs or to spend time in their hometowns, the Student Senate was still in session.
With the season-opening football game against Western Kentucky University set for an unusually early and dangerously hot 12:30 p.m. Saturday, the University Athletic Association has urged fans to find ways to cool down.
As midfielder Ameera Abdullah dribbled into the box on a muggy Saturday evening, she heard KeLeigh Hudson call her name and instinctively launched a cross to the senior. Hudson delivered a swift kick from 8 yards out that Texas A&M goalie Kristin Arnold couldn't keep up with, giving UF a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.
Freshman Cameron Newton will play backup to starting quarterback Tim Tebow this season, Coach Urban Meyer announced Saturday morning.
It took Megan Fleming several days to add the basic statistics course she needs for her minor. The freshman theater major made three attempts to register with ISIS each day, but the class was full each time.
The UF volleyball team is back in action tonight - and in black.
Former USC running back Emmanuel Moody - who is considering a transfer to UF - was in Gainesville on Thursday and attended the Gators' closed practice.
If you're expecting me to write some cheesy opening about how "Holy Moses! There's a female on the sports page!" - forget it. Not gonna happen.
