Florida men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams preparing for South Carolina following loss to Georgia

After a disappointing performance in their dual-competition against Texas and Indiana, the Gators men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are hoping to bounce back after an off-week, healthy and in peak racing condition.
The Florida men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams finished up their second consecutive road dual-meet on Saturday in Austin, Texas, where the teams took on the defending national champions Texas and Big-10 opponent, Indiana.
For the second consecutive week, both the UF men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will be on the road competing in a dual-competition.
After the No. 5 Gators women’s swimming team routed the Vanderbilt Commodores with a 193-69 victory on Thursday, the team traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota to meet with the UF men’s squad to take on No. 9 Minnesota on Saturday for a dual-competition.
On Thursday night, the Florida women's swimming team, without its divers, kicked of its first Southeastern Conference meet of the year in Nashville, taking on the Vanderbilt Commodores.
After both the UF men and women’s swimming and diving teams captured their sixth-straight All Florida Invitational titles on Sept. 20 in Gainesville, the teams will be tested with a pair of tough road meets against Minnesota and Vanderbilt.
The Gators were right at home at the top of the leaderboard last weekend.
The All Florida Invitational ended on Sunday afternoon at the O’Connell Center’s Natatorium in Gainesville after three days of competition for swimming and diving teams from across the state of Florida.
Florida’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams kicked off their 2015 season with the first day of the All Florida Invitational in Gainesville. The Gators host five teams: Florida Gulf Coast, Florida State, Miami, Nova Southeastern, and Towson University during the three-day meet. After the first day, the Gators had won 15 of the 17 preliminary races.
With their seasons starting on Friday at the All Florida Invitational in Gainesville, expectations are high for Florida’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams, led by head swimming coach Gregg Troy and diving coach Dale Schultz.
The UF men’s swimming and diving team finished in fifth place at the 2015 NCAA Championships, which concluded Saturday.
After seeing the UF women’s swimming and diving team finish ninth at the NCAA Championships last week, the men now have their chance to try to take home a national title.
The Florida women’s swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2015 NCAA Championships in ninth place, marking Florida’s 15th straight top-10 finish at the meet.

The UF men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will travel to Auburn, Alabama, on Sunday and relax, per coach Gregg Troy’s orders.
As coach Gregg Troy said, the theme for training the No. 7 men and women’s swimming and diving teams for the Southeastern Conference Championships is: “Not where we want to be but still in a really good spot.”
