Gators stun underdog Rebels, advance to SEC Championships semifinals

The No. 4 Florida Gators (16-6, 9-4 SEC) defeated the No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels (11-13, 3-10 SEC) 4-0 Friday morning at Billingsley Tennis Center to advance to the Southeastern Conference Championships semifinals. The Gators pieced together a fantastic performance in doubles and singles play in pursuit of their shutout victory.

Gators face most stubborn opponent yet: rising temperatures

Projections show the number of days over 95 degrees per year could reach 40 to 50 days as soon as the 2030s, according to The Climate Explorer, an interactive toolkit managed by NOAA. The heat serves as an advantage on the field for the Gators, but health risks could soon outweigh the draw of The Swamp.

UF University Athletic Association pushes for greener buildings

The Heavener became the first athletic facility in the U.S. to receive a platinum level certification in 2009. Now, the new complex — the James W. “Bill” Heavener Football Training Center — is only anticipating a LEED Gold certification, assistant athletic director of facilities Bill Smith said.

No. 17 Gators take season finale against Auburn

The No. 17 Florida Gators (14-6, 8-4 SEC) finished their final match of the regular season and defeated the No. 15 Auburn Tigers (18-6, 8-4 SEC) 5-2 Sunday afternoon at Yarbrough Tennis Center. The Gators trounced the Tigers in doubles play and solidified their lead with an all-around impressive performance in singles play.

Gators gymnastics finishes second in NCAA championship

The No. 2 Florida Gators (29-5, 6-1 SEC) finished second in the National Final with a score of 198.2375. The Oklahoma Sooners (25-2, 3-0 Big 12) finished in first with a 198.3875. The Utah Utes (12-3, 5-2 PAC-12) and Louisiana State Tigers (8-5, 4-3 SEC) finished third and fourth with scores of 197.9375 and 197.5250, respectively.
