FEST is taking over Gainesville this weekend for the 17th time. With punk-rock fanatics from across the globe roaming the streets, it seems like a good time to curate some of our favorite tunes to blare when we want to headbang out our emotions. The best part? You can see every band featured on the playlist this weekend.
Tony Weinbender has two great loves: music and Gainesville. Seventeen years ago he lost $500 trying to combine those, but in doing so, he created an event that became a city staple and a community that never stops coming back for more.

On Sept. 7, 2017, local reggae band Skunkape made its debut opening for Through the Roots at High Dive. A year later, they have a zealous fan base at each of their almost-weekly shows. I met up with the band at Downtown Billards Inc. in Ocala.
