LSU women's basketball coach Van Chancellor was named Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year, the league announced Tuesday.
The award is voted on by the league's coaches.
Chancellor led the Tigers to an perfect 14-0 conference record, and a 25-4 regular-season record. No. 7 LSU handed No. 3 Tennessee (27-2, 13-1 SEC) its only conference loss on Feb. 14 in a 78-62 decision in Knoxville. The Tigers will be the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament starting Thursday in Nashville, and the Volunteers will be the No. 2 seed. The top four seeds receive first-round byes.
Butler led UF (17-12, 6-8 SEC) to a four-game improvement in SEC play, just one year removed from a disastrous 9-22, 2-12 SEC campaign. The Gators enter the SEC Tournament as the No. 7 seed and will face South Carolina in the first round at 3:30 p.m.
