Four-star defensive end Lorenzo Carter selects Georgia over Florida and LSU during a ceremony at his high school, Norcross (Ga.) High, on Wednesday afternoon.

Four-star defensive end Lorenzo Carter out of Norcross (Ga.) High signed with Georgia on Wednesday afternoon. Carter picked UGA over Florida, Florida State and LSU.

Carter’s announcement came as no surprise as Norcross is just an hour outside of Athens.

New UGA defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who held the same position at FSU last season, is well-known for his ability to recruit well. Carter took an official visit to Athens last weekend and visited FSU the previous weekend.

Carter is explosive off the line and could get reps immediately with the Bulldogs. He is the No. 3 defensive end in the 2014 class, according to Rivals.com.

As a senior at Norcross High, he registered 40 tackles for loss.

He took an official to Gainesville back in September 2013, but did not make a trip to the UF campus since then. He had a visit from Florida coaches last Thursday.

Coach Will Muschamp said during his National Signing Day press conference Wednesday afternoon that the 2014 class is done at this point, but added that the coaching staff is "always recruiting."
