Janoris Jenkins arrested, again charged with possession of marijuana

Florida cornerback Janoris Jenkins was arrested for possession of

marijuana early Saturday morning, marking the senior's second

incident with the drug this year.

A Gainesville Police Department officer saw Jenkins at 12:35 a.m.

sitting in a car smoking a cigar in a parking lot at 104 N. Main

St., according to a GPD release obtained by the Florida

Times-Union. Jenkins left the car after the officer saw him,

but the officer found a burnt marijuana cigar in the car's center

console.

Jenkins was given a notice to appear for possession of less than 20

grams of cannabis and is set for a May 12 court date, according to

the release. GPD incident reports are unavailable on

weekends.

Jenkins was also cited for possession of marijuana in January and

on March 18 was forced to pay $316 in court costs and fines. In May

2009, Jenkins was Tasered and charged with affray and resisting an

officer and obstruction without violence after being involved in a

fight.

The charges for fighting were later dropped, and Jenkins signed a

deferred prosecution agreement in December 2009.

Florida coach Will Muschamp had yet to commennt on Jenkins' arrest

as of Saturday afternoon.
