Assault must be taken seriously with education

The recent assaults on campus have inspired the usual stream of safety tips and praise for the bravery of the victims. As Alligator columnist Sally Greider pointed out, these statements from police, the public discourse about risky behavior, and the swift offerings of pepper spray and alarm key rings from retailers do virtually nothing.

Georgia-South Carolina highlights college football matchups

Florida opens its Southeastern Conference slate at home on Saturday against Kentucky, but there are other games happening around the country. Week 3 of the College Football season, besides a few decent matchups, is painful folks. It’s the sad truth. While I in no means would recommend you avoid any weekend of college football might I suggest you stick to watching the games I have put for you here. Conveniently enough, they are spread out between noon and 7 p.m.

Letters to the editor: UF must do more to make campus safe

I remember touring UF my senior year of high school and hearing my mom ask the most important question of all: "How safe is campus?" We got the speech about the three-lock dorm system, the blue lights, Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol and all of the resources that make UF one of the safest places to call home. Now I, along with every other student, can only think about taking a self-defense class and buying pepper spray.
