A Day of Gratitude

We are declaring Wednesday, October 12, to be a Day of Gratitude. On that day, we are acknowledging and thanking every UF student, faculty and staff member for their work in overcoming the challenges of the pandemic.

No. 15 Gators outlast LSU in 5 sets to secure weekend sweep

For a moment Sunday afternoon, it seemed the Louisiana State Tigers had solved the riddle of the Florida Gators. Down two sets to none, the Tigers stormed back to force a winner-take-all fifth set. The No. 15 Gators claimed the 15-point finale to win their second game of the weekend (25-18, 26-24, 25-27, 21-25, 15-9) against LSU.

Florida’s comeback hopes fall short against Mizzou

UF was determined to snap its worst losing streak in program history. However, a Tigers’ penalty kick goal in the 66th minute was more than enough to shatter Florida’s dream. The Gators extended their skid to eight after falling 3-2 to Mizzou Sunday. With the loss, Florida has now dropped eight matches by a one-goal deficit this season.

No. 15 Gators defeat LSU to open weekend series

The Florida faithful still packed the house to the tune of 3,584 to watch their No. 15 Gators defeat the Louisiana State Tigers three sets to one (25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 27-25) Saturday evening. Head coach Mary Wise said it’s the first home match played on a homecoming Saturday in at least 33 years.

A day in Gainesville with US Senate candidate Val Demings

The Gainesville tour saw Demings live like a local. She laughed with and listened to voters at staple locations like the Pride Community Center of North Central Florida and Grace Marketplace, braved the Gainesville traffic amid street closures to catch UF’s homecoming parade and even dug into a few slices at Satchel’s Pizza.

From classroom to stage, UF students, alum work tirelessly to make music a reality

Gainesville’s local music scene is filled with UF students and alum who are juggling a full course load, work and aspiring music careers. Aside from balancing different responsibilities, college musicians also grapple with the business aspect of their craft — creating digital advertisements, promoting social media content, finding venues for performances and handling music production. Essentially, they become their own manager, publicist and producer.
