UF senior wide receiver Andre Caldwell is officially out for Saturday's game against rival Tennessee with a sprained right MCL.
I am writing to say I am tired of the fans not getting loud at games until the opposing offense is lined up. By that time, all calls have been made, and we're not very disruptive to their game plan. The good teams, such as Tennessee, will be going with silent counts, hand signals, etc. The crowd needs to be loud when the offense is in the huddle, so it's hard for the opposing team to hear the play and snap count.
Qualifying for Student Government political parties was off to a usually slow start Friday.
I'm writing in response to Colleen Shea's article in the Friday Alligator. I'm a huge football fan, but I'm not writing to bash her at all. In fact, I thought Ms. Shea's article was very creative and a fun read. What I want to comment on is the fact that her article brings up another valid point: I'm one of the many seniors here at UF who did not receive student tickets this year.
In most people's minds, alcohol and tailgating go together like rum and Coke.
Hordes of orange-and-blue-clad Gators fans marched toward Ben Hill Griffin Stadium armed with an arsenal of Solo cups and beer cans. It was just another Saturday in the Swamp.
Would somebody please tell me why, on Gore's green earth, Sen. John Kerry is coming to UF?
After an upset-filled first two weeks of the college football season, the Gators are pretty happy to be sitting at 2-0.
Dressing appropriately for the workplace got a little bit spicier Sunday night.
The Gainesville Police Department recently received a grant for a new kiosk to patrol the midtown bars.
A car collided with Troy's defensive bus on its way to Florida Field on Saturday, and the bus kept on going up Interstate-75.
Joe Haden is set to be a shutdown cornerback - in two years.
For the first time since Sugar Ray performed in 2003, UF's Gator Growl will feature a musical performance.
The electricity that filled James G. Pressly stadium early Sunday afternoon had dissipated and turned into anxiety as the final minutes of the Gators' match against No. 9 FSU ticked away.
After some consideration, I must admit I agree with the critics of Students for a Democratic Society's Wednesday protest. We should have done our homework and opened up a thesaurus to see "university" and "corporation" listed side by side as synonyms. I guess we missed a step and forgot that universities are no longer educational institutions, but money-making machines.
When Guillermo Moratorio's black and silver motor scooter collided with a black Saab earlier this semester, he was flung headfirst toward it in a front-flip that landed him sideways on the pavement. The UF senior was traveling at the 35-mile-per-hour speed limit on Southwest Second Avenue when the woman driving the car pulled out past the stop sign. Moratorio, who was not wearing a helmet, could not swerve to avoid the car and collided with the rear of the vehicle.
No. 6 UF will enter Southeastern Conference play undefeated for only the second time in Coach Mary Wise's 17 seasons.
Wherever UF's investment money may be going, it can't be construed to be funding the war in any manner. Money shuffled around on stock exchanges or bond markets never sees the company in question unless the stock or bond is being purchased directly from the company - a tiny, tiny fraction of trading volume and almost certainly not the case.
He arrived in Gainesville on day 369 of his trek.
