The Florida Gators men’s golf team took first place at the Vystar Credit Union Gators Invitational Sunday for the fourth consecutive time and the 29th time in program history. The invitational took place, Feb. 11-12, at the Mark Bostick Golf course. The first 36 holes were set to take place on Saturday, and the last 18 holes Sunday.
The Gators sat in fourth place after day one. The team shot a 287 in round one- and a 283 in round two. Florida trailed Charleston by three strokes before it came back on day two to secure the win.
Debove’s role on the team was to fill in when needed and support his teammates. However, his play from the No. 5 position in the regionals gave him the opportunity to start in fall 2022.
Saturday's event was held for a six-year-old boy named Noah. He and his family were welcomed into the Guy Bostick Clubhouse. The entire men’s team, along with head coach JC Deacon, greeted him with a whole table full of toys for Noah.
The Florida men’s golf team was in Windermere, Florida, Sunday through Tuesday for the Isleworth Collegiate. The Gators ended the tournament 15-under par. UF also boasted four individuals — Yuxin Lin, Quentin Debove, Fred Biondi and John DuBois — finishing inside the top 25.
The Florida women's golf team competed in its final tournament of the fall season this past weekend. The Gators won't see action until February of next year.
