11 Gainesville men indicted for 5 years of crimes

The alleged criminal activity occurred in a five year period from April 2017 to May 2022. The racketeering offenses include murder, attempted murder, robbery, burglary, drug possession and battery. Eight of the 11 defendants were indicted for firearm or ammunition possession by a delinquent.

Alachua chosen for federal support to revitalize energy efficiency

Alachua county was chosen to participate in the US Department of Energy’s Communities Local Energy Action Program at the end of March — a huge leap in the direction of equitable sustainability. The county is one of 22 participating communities and the only Florida recipient to participate in the program, which aims to help low-income and energy-burdened communities experiencing environmental justice or economic impacts.

Alachua County Education Association offers salary proposal

The ACEA and the ACPS bargaining teams reviewed the proposed salary increases for teachers and education professionals, like librarians, media specialists and school psychologists.  The proposal would provide education support to professionals and teachers with an additional $0.55 per hour. 


Zoe Strahan, a sophomore at the University of Florida, gets her long-awaited gelati from B’z Gelati food truck at the Bonnamu Music Festival on March 12, 2021. Strahan said that if the gelati truck made more than $300 that evening, then the proceeds will go to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

B’z Gelati: Where the buzz began

The family-owned company first started working at UF’s football and baseball games. For the last six months, the food truck parked itself in the Oaks Mall parking lot Wednesdays through Fridays, and at Depot Park every other weekend. But B’z Gelati’s typical source of revenue is made through working at events or catering.
