Six bands, musicians and producers to battle it out for Okeechobee spot

Every year, artists compete in Destination Okeechobee competitions throughout Florida in hopes of earning a spot on the Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival line-up. The first round, which concluded about a month ago, consisted of online voting exclusively. Flipturn, a Gainesville alternative indie group, beat out nearly 3,000 other artists and bands for their spot.

The new year is officially in full swing, and along with the resolutions comes one of music’s biggest events: the Grammy Awards. Airing on Sunday, the 60th anniversary of the awards show will celebrate captivating records from across genres over the past year. Over Easy Creative to host 80s Ski Lodge concert featuring MZG, FRQ NCY and more

Fans should expect to bring their warmest ski jackets to High Dive on Friday, where Over Easy Creative will host a concert featuring dynamic electronic music acts MZG and FRQ NCY. With the help of event planners Eclectic Electric, High Dive will be transformed into a retro ski lodge based in the ’80s for the show. The event serves as an official precursor to Fractal Beach, a Miami music festival that will take place Feb. 2 to 4.

Atlanta duo ATLiens to perform at Simons

Atlanta-based electronic music duo ATLiens will be performing at Simons on Friday night for their Space Cult Tour, playing alongside opening acts FLTHYVBZ and Frostbyte. The show is being hosted by Lucid Nightlife, which has been committed to bringing high-quality electronic events to Gainesville.
