With the Fall semester coming to a quick start, many Gainesville clubs and organizations begin preparations for an active season.
Franziska Raeber, the director of development at the Humane Society of North Central Florida, said the main adoption floor was built as an open-air, warehouse-style kennel. There is no central air conditioning, and adding windows is not possible due to the cinderblock layout.
It is a free event with books provided by the humane society’s Thrift Store. Not only does it help kids practice reading, but it also helps the animals get human exposure and increases their chances of adoption.
