Florida International transfer Lyndell Hudson Jr. commits to Gators

Florida International University transfer junior offensive lineman Lyndell Hudson Jr. announced his commitment to the Florida Gators football program on Twitter Saturday. The announcement came on the same day that Hudson was on an official visit to UF’s campus. He was previously committed to the University of South Florida before his visit.

Four Gators earn All-SEC accolades

Friday morning, the Southeastern Conference announced its annual All-SEC awards, which included four members of the Florida softball team. Skylar Wallace, Charla Echols, Reagan Walsh, and Kendra Falby were named to various All-SEC teams, with Wallace also named the SEC Player of the Year.

No. 7 Florida routs No. 5 Vanderbilt in series opener

The No. 7 Florida Gators (38-12, 16-9 SEC) took game one of the weekend series against the No. 5 Vanderbilt Commodores (35-14, 17-8 SEC) 10-0 Friday at Condron Family Ballpark. Florida finished the matchup in seven innings of work when sophomore two-way star Jac Caglianone drove in two runs in the final inning to secure the victory for UF.

Gators fall to North Carolina in Sweet 16

The No. 16 seed Florida Gators (18-7, 9-4 SEC) fell to the No. 1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels (31-1, 13-0 ACC) 4-1 at Chewning Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The loss in the sweet sixteen round ended Florida’s run in the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament.

DeSantis signs AAPI history K-12 education bill into law

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 1537 into law May 9, requiring Asian American and Pacific Islander history in K-12 curriculum. The legislation’s enactment marks a milestone in a two-year-long battle to make AAPI history a mandatory part of Florida public school education led by Mimi Chan, director of Make Us Visible Florida, the state’s chapter of a nonprofit dedicated to integrating AAPI history into K-12 classrooms.

Florida drops series to Texas A&M

The No. 4 Florida Gators (37-12, 15-9 SEC) fell 3-2 to the Texas A&M Aggies (28-20, 11-13 SEC) Sunday afternoon in College Station, Texas. The loss secured UF’s second Southeastern Conference series loss of the season.
