Twenty-two days ago, Florida women’s tennis was tasked with finding a head coach after Roland Thornqvist’s retirement. The Gators did that today, selecting Pepperdine’s Per Nilsson to guide their program.
Most Gainesville areas west of the Archer Road and Southwest 23rd Terrace intersection are part of District 1, and District 3 stretches from southwestern Alachua County to UF campus, where it envelops a majority of the dorms.
Florida Senate District 9 accounts for parts of Levy County and Marion County, as well as the southern half of Alachua County. Sections of Gainesville neighborhoods are included just a few miles from UF campus, though the university itself is not.
District 10 includes the northern half of Alachua County, with a small portion of the northernmost neighborhoods outside of Gainesville enveloped as well. District 22 includes the southwestern portion of Alachua County, with a western section of Gainesville incorporated.
The Alachua County Supervisor of Elections is responsible for setting up polling locations, educating voters, maintaining voter registration and verifying election results.
There are three people up for Alachua County Sheriff this year: a Democrat, a Republican and a nonpartisan candidate.
